Yantian International Container Terminals (YICT), a joint venture established by Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) and Shenzhen Yantian Port Group (YPG), commenced operations in mid-1994. The company is responsible for operating and managing Phases I, II and III, the Expansion Project and the West Port of Yantian Port.
Yantian is a preferred port of call for mega-vessels in South China. More than 30 major shipping lines operate over 90 weekly services at Yantian, establishing an extensive shipping network that spans the globe.
To provide premium terminal services, YICT continually develops the terminal by implementing state-of-the-art operational equipment and computer systems. At the same time, YICT endeavors to enhance staff training and qualification to improve overall customer service quality.
YICT is a member of the HPH Group. HPH, a subsidiary of the multinational conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa Limited (HWL), is the world's leading port investor, developer and operator with interests in a total of 308 berths in 51 ports, spanning 25 countries throughout Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, the Americas and Australasia. HPH also owns a number of transport-related service companies. In 2009, the HPH Group handled a combined throughput of 65.3 million TEU worldwide.
