The Ebba Maersk Calls at YICT Fully Loaded£¨10-6-2010£©

On 10 June, the Ebba Maersk, one of Maersk's Post-Panamax class (PS-class) vessel fleet, carried a full load of containers to YICT for the first time. The 397.7-metre-long, 56.4-metre-wide vessel can carry 15,000 TEU stacked 11 high under deck and nine on deck. The vessel has a maximum draft of 16 metres and an anchor that weighs 29 tons, equivalent to the weight of five adult African elephants.

YICT is perfectly suited to receiving vessels of this size, having a natural water depth alongside of 16 metres and modern operational facilities. YICT's super-post-Panamax quay cranes, which are able to reach across 22 rows of containers, are particularly useful during the calls of mega-vessels. During this call, YICT deployed 10 super post-Panamax quay cranes. They unloaded 5,173 forty-foot containers by the morning of 11 June.

The Ebba Maersk is part of Maersk Line's European Service. Vessels deployed to this service berth at the following ports: Algeciras, Suez Canal, Yantian, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Ningbo and Xiamen.

With over 90 weekly services, serving destinations worldwide, YICT is a preferred port of call for mega-vessels in South China.
