About the staff committees
YICT has set up four staff committees, whose members are nominated by their respective departments, each committee member having a term of two years. The Sports & Entertainment Committee is under the guidance and support of YICT’s Labour Union Office, while the other three are supervised and supported by the Human Resources Department.
●Sports & Entertainment Committee The committee aims to promote and enrich the staff's cultural life outside of work. It is responsible for regularly organising sports and other related activities. Sports and activity clubs under the committee include basketball, badminton, football, tennis, dancing, singing, table tennis, mountain climbing and tae kwon do.
●Canteen Committee The committee is set up to collaborate in the management of the canteen. It is responsible for gathering staff's opinions of and suggestions for the canteen and for assisting the contractors managing the canteen. It also supervises the catering service, prices, hygiene and food quality of the canteen.
●Transport Committee This committee is set up to collaborate in the management of the staff transport service. It is responsible for gathering staff's opinions of and suggestions for the transport service, for discussing proposals put forward by staff and for developing ways to improve the service.
●Cultural and Editorial Committee The committee assists the company in promoting corporate culture, editing the internal journal YICT World , and gathering and showcasing staff contributions like artwork or journal articles. It serves as a communicative channel between staff, departments and the company especially on the interrelationships affecting the internal cultural life of staff and corporate culture. The four clubs under the committee are the Cantonese, English, photography, and art and literature clubs.
Other Communication Channels Volunteer Group YICT’s volunteer group is an active member of the Yantian Volunteer Association. Established in 1998, the volunteer group has taken part in various volunteer activities, including seashore clean-up drives, blood donations, clothes donations, tree planting, and visiting orphans at the Children’s Welfare Institution, among others.
Team Briefings These are monthly departmental meetings in which the company conveys its goals and important messages to staff. Within 48 hours after the meeting, all section and department heads are required to present staff directly with all the information discussed, including updates on company development, policies, and staff-related issues, and to collect staff feedback and suggestions for follow-ups.
General Manager Communication Day During the General Manager Communication Day, YICT's management team conducts face-to-face communication with the staff, responds to the opinions and suggestions put forward by the staff and makes appropriate follow-ups.
