YICT commenced its internship programme for students in 2001, which has since taken in over 30 trainees on average each year. Students majoring in over 10 different subjects have come from more than 20 universities and colleges in Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Dalian, Qingdao, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangxi, Hubei and Hunan. Since its launch, it has received great support and positive feedback from the participating colleges, universities and even the general public.

Over 10 departments in YICT have taken part in the internship programme. The internship is usually scheduled during the summer vacation months, that is, July and August. Mentors from among the staff in the departments involved are assigned to teams of interns. Mentors are responsible for supervising the students' internship activities, assigning work plans and providing them with lots of learning opportunities at the terminal. Through these activities, the students get to experience and understand YICT's corporate operations and business culture. The activities are very effective and have received positive feedback from the students. Many of them said they have benefited a lot from the programme in terms of improving their professional knowledge, strengthening their teamwork and communication skills, advancing their business acumen and awareness, and helping unearth their potential, enabling them to set out their own future development plans.
