The Human Resources Department (HRD) is dedicated to constantly strengthening YICT’s human resource values and core competitive edge. Apart from an emphasis on improving the overall staff competence level, YICT commits itself to selecting staff with the right potential, developing their inherent talents to achieve the company's mission and vision, and thus realising a win-win situation between the employees and the company, eventually elevating YICT into a class of its own. Structured Learning Curriculum YICT has created an all-round learning curriculum for staff. The HRD not only conducts technical training programmes to improve staff's hard skills in container terminal operations, but it also offers training courses on soft skills, including problem solving, communication, and customer service skills. Through diversified training courses, including required and selective courses, seminars, visits and workshops, staff learn to continuously improve their specialised knowledge and skills based on the needs of their jobs. These courses enhance their further development and help advance the creation of a corporate culture.
Specialised Technical Training YICT has introduced systematic and comprehensive technical training to equip its staff with necessary and up-to-date technical knowledge and skills. Training ranges from terminal operations to the maintenance and repair of terminal equipment and facilities. Besides supporting ongoing port development and the increasing need for specialised skills, technical training also helps staff meet the regulatory requirements of their posts, as set by the government, in order for them to obtain their work licences.
Tailored Development Programmes YICT customises diversified talent development programmes for management trainees and new staff at different position levels in the company. The HRD selects, trains and reserves talent for the future expansion of YICT, as well as for HPH. Through various enhancement schemes, the HRD can discover their potential and thus encourage them to excel beyond their current expectations in YICT and in other HPH business units.

They can arrange time for study according to their own schedule, and they can also review their lessons at any time. The courses are fully interactive, making the learning process fun and engaging. Management can even track the staff's progress and learn about their study situations at any time.
Self-study Sponsorship Programmes By providing additional financial support to staff, YICT encourages them to make more productive use of their spare time by signing up for specialised courses or management courses in order to expand their knowledge and be well prepared for the company’s future development.
