The creation of Yantian Port Bonded Logistics Park has enabled YICT to become not only an international port, but also the preferred terminal for multinational buyers specialising in world trade. Enjoying the advantages of a preferential tax policy and geographical proximity to YICT, buyers deliver their goods for import and export directly to the logistics park. After storing, consolidation and deconsolidation, and simple processing, the goods are distributed, shipped and sold to third-party countries. Complete facilities, combined with convenient and swift customs clearance, help the park attract many well-known multinational purchasers and international logistics enterprises, thus facilitating the development of port-related industries in the region.

Adjacent to YICT, the logistics park covers a total area of 0.96 square kilometres, divided into a southern section and a northern section. The park abuts YICT in the south with an area of 0.17 square kilometres, which comprises warehouse facilities and a container yard. The northern section, north of Shenyan Highway, occupies an area of 0.79 square kilometres. A road flyover links these two sections.

Commencing operations on 31 March 2006, the logistics park is one of the country's best examples of interactive policy making affecting the operations of a port and a bonded logistics park. The park is directly connected to the terminals via customs supervisory channels. Customs declaration is conducted by means of a round-the-clock electronic customs release. Logistics park and port information can be exchanged online via the Internet between Customs, shipping lines, enterprises and administrative departments based inside the park.

Playing an important role supporting the Yantian Port logistics industry, Yantian Port Bonded Logistics Park has been granted a number of concessions beneficial to easing customs clearance. Besides exemptions from export duties and enjoying special customs supervision of all cargo inside the park, refunds of export cargo taxes are also available upon entry into the park, resulting in operational cost reductions for enterprises. In addition, transit cargo can also be consolidated or deconsolidated at the logistics park. Before the new policy had been implemented, only full containers were allowed to move in and out of the park.

In March 2006, YICT and warehousing enterprises in Yantian District set up the Association of Yantian Port and Warehousing Enterprises in order to work together more effectively, facilitate mutual communication and cooperation, and provide supporting services for the development of Yantian’s warehousing logistics industry.
