On 5 November, a ceremony marking the launch of imported wine source-tracking technology was held at YICT. Attended the ceremony were some 200 guests from the Bureau of Import & Export Food Safety of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection & Quarantine (AQSIQ), Shenzhen Wine Association and the wine import industry.
On 25 October 2012, YICT and China Hewlett-Packard Company (CHP) jointly held a ceremony at YICT to announce the successful completion of the “Challenge 1,000” programme, which enabled YICT's terminal operating systems to record 1,000 days of unimpeded service. This beat the system’s previous record of 541 consecutive days of operation without experiencing any unplanned system downtime.
On 25 September 2012,YICT was certified compliant with the standard of the World Health Organization (WHO) in respect of Core Capacity of Ports of Entry by the General Administration of Quality Supervision,Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ),at the first China Quality Forum held in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse,Beijing.
On 19 October,YICT welcomed an operational safety inspection team led by Zhang Wen,Vice Mayor of Shenzhen.Xu Xiaoyang,Deputy Managing Director of YICT,accompanied the visit and introduced the terminal's safety operations to the officials.
From 15 to 17 October 2012,the Seventh China (Shenzhen) International Logistics and Transportation Fair (CILF) was held at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Centre.
On 20 September, U Thein Sein, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, visited YICT with his delegation. Wu Yihuan, Vice Mayor of Shenzhen Municipality, accompanied the guests. Patrick Lam, Managing Director of YICT, hosted the visit and introduced the development and operations of YICT to the group.
On 11 September 2012, Wang Qingyun, Member of Party Leadership Group of National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and Director of State Bureau of Material Reserve, visited YICT with his delegation. Huo Shuhua, General Manager-Port Development Department of YICT, hosted the visit and introduced YICT's development and operations to the guests.
On 15 August 2012, Hamburg Süd celebrated the christening of the Santa Barbara at YICT. The ceremony was attended by approximately 300 guests including Stefan Christoph Gallon
On 7 August, YICT welcomed the maiden call of the Ever Lambent, the first L-type container vessel in Evergreen Line's fleet.
On 6 August, YICT received a delegation from the Indonesia National Shippers' Council headed by its chairman, Toto Dirgantoro.
On 27 July, YICT worked with Chi Heng Foundation (CHF), a Hong Kong charity group, to host a one-day trip for a group of 30 students from underprivileged families in centralChina.
