Train Carriages Shipped to YICT by Barge

On 20 January 2010, YICT handled a shipment of train carriages for the first time as a barge carrying four rail wagons from Nanjing arrived at YICT. The carriages were then loaded from the barge onto three extra long chassis and left the terminal.

Each train carriage was 25 metres long and weighed 36 tons. Due to the out-sized dimensions and weight of the cargo, YICT had to specially tailor one of its quay cranes to do the job and make other adjustments to its cargo-handling regimen.

The four carriages were the first batch of a shipment of eight purchased by OCT East, a tourist resort in eastern Shenzhen, for its upcoming railway hotel programme.
