Operational Procedures

Using its leading-edge terminal management system and container handling facilities, YICT provides customers with efficient terminal operations. All procedures involving the movement of containers in and out of the terminal can be classified under three major sections: berth allocation, yard planning and gatehouse management.

  • External tractors enter the parking lot at the Gate after going through inspection
  • Drivers obtain Container Movement Slips (CMS) indicating container grounding area
  • Drivers transport containers to the designated area as per the CMS
  • External tractors exit via the Exit Gate after completing the required procedures
  • Shipping lines provide YICT with storage and loading plans
  • The terminal operations team makes loading plans as per the information provided by the shipping lines
  • The terminal operations team arranges for equipment and tractors to deliver the containers to the quayside and to load the containers onto the vessel as per the plan
  • Handle container pickup and grounding applications
  • Conduct inspection, weighing and sterilisation of the containers
  • The Yard Planning Team arranges the allocation of containers in the yard
  • The terminal operations team deploys the equipment and tools required to handle the containers
  • For operations with special requirements, the terminal will make use of specialised equipment or tools
  • Shipping lines or agents provide the terminal with advance notice of arrival times and of the quantities of containers for loading and unloading
  • The terminal operations team allocates cranes and berths as per the above information, notifies shipping lines and agents and on-site operators of berth allocation plans, and provides Customs, Frontier Inspection, Pilotage and other related parties with berth allocation plans.
  • External empty tractors enter the terminal's parking lot at the Gate and complete the application for container pickup
  • Drivers pick up containers at the designated location
  • External tractors exit via the Exit Gate after completing the required procedures; if sterilisation is required, the tractors need to be sterilised before leaving the Gate.
  • Shipping lines provide YICT with the list of containers to be unloaded
  • The terminal operations team makes unloading plans as per the information provided by the shipping lines and the yard area for stacking the containers
  • The terminal operations team arranges for equipment to discharge the containers and to load them onto tractors for delivery to the designated area in the yard for stacking
