On 24 December 2007, YICT's Environmental Protection Group and Volunteer Group jointly issued a call to YICT staff members for donations of clothing. The call soon received generous support. Approximately 400 pieces of clothes were donated that day.
A collection site was set up at the parking area near YICT Administration Building. Staff delivered packs of clothing to the site. The donation drive will last for five days, and all clothing collected will be sent immediately to the Yantian District Social Welfare Centre, which will then forward the clothing to the Shenzhen Municipal Management and Service Centre of Social Donation, which will finally distribute these clothes to disadvantaged people in remote mountainous areas.
YICT's staff generally thinks that launching such a campaign is of great significance. It shows their love and concern for people in need.
Established in 2002, the Yantian District Social Welfare Centre is an official organisation which manages social donations in Yantian district.
