"It's such a huge port," a group of students and teachers, dressed in colourful costumes representing the Yi ethnic minority, collectively gasped in surprise. On the morning of 14 August 2007, YICT welcomed these special visitors - students and teachers from Dahaizi Hope Primary School. The school, located in Yunnan Province, has been sponsored by YICT since 2003. To provide an opportunity for the students to broaden their horizons, YICT invited some of them to visit the port during their summer vacation.

During their first visits at the Yantian Port, YICT arranged for the guests to watch the corporate video, visit the container yard and get a grand bird's eye view of the port. And especially since YICT staff hosting the visit had briefed them with a general introduction and some basic terminal knowledge in interesting and jargon-free language, the presentation aroused a great deal of interest from the visitors. Moreover, while getting the grand bird's eye view of the port at the top of YICT's Administration Building, the students all got excited when they saw their schoolmates' pictures on the posters decorating the walls there. Then, they went on to visit the container yard and the Quay Crane Simulator Training Centre, where they got their once-in-a-lifetime chance to "operate" quay cranes and experience the excitement of sitting inside the crane operator's cabin, "moving" containers while "looking out to sea". With the help of the centre's instructor they successfully obtained their crane operator's "diploma".

Early in 2003, to support education and improve the learning conditions for children living in the mountainous rural areas, YICT set up a special team to work on  funding the construction and renovation of the school's main building and dormitory, offering assistance in teaching and training, conducting cultural exchange programmes, and donating educational facilities.

The students' visit will last for a week. To facilitate the students and teachers' stay in Shenzhen, YICT has arranged plenty of enjoyable activities to keep them busy and has even offered them each a round-trip air ticket.
