These days, we believe all people in Shenzhen feel the same: the weather is scorching hot.

Currently, the orange alert is in effect, and the highest temperature today reached 37°C!

The sun is "blazing", and the heat is "grilling" people, but all the frontline staff of YANTIAN and contract workers stick to their posts unwaveringly. In this context, YANTIAN launches timely "cool" measures to take care of every member of YANTIAN.

During the summer heatwave, YANTIAN holds a monthly "Sending Prescription for Cooling Down" activity. Department heads go to frontline such as the quayside, railway station, and the East Port construction site to deliver drinks and warm greetings to the frontline staff members and contract workers working outdoors.

We also served Chinese herbal tea at the terminal's frontline and set up a dedicated medicine point providing patchouli oral liquid, cooling balm, Ren Dan, and other common medicines to relieve the symptoms of heatstroke. The supply of Chinese herbal tea will continue to October. The staff canteen also provides free tong sui and herbal tea such as mung bean sweet soup and ching bo leung to help employees cool down and relieve the heat.

On the premise of not affecting normal operation, YANTIAN reasonably arranges the operation time for equipment repair and maintenance, and avoids maintenance personnel to work in high temperature hours at noon. At the construction site of the East Port, workers stagger their operations to ensure construction progress while avoiding working in the open air at noon for construction safety.

Smooth operation of the port is the needs and also responsibilities of YANTIAN. The sweat-drenched back and sun-tanned face are the most captivating images of the port in summer. With deep gratitude, we acknowledge each and every one of YANTIAN members who remain committed to their posts during the intense heat.
