Dominant advantages of the Port Alliance

Jiangmen is the traditional manufacturing base in Guangdong Province. It has multiple advantageous industrial clusters of household appliances, general machinery and equipment, LCD panels, paper, furniture, and plastic products and huge export demand. Its emerging industries, such as new energy batteries, silicon energy industry chain, are also thriving.

As a nod in the Greater Bay Area, Jiangmen has extensive river networks and a well-developed water transportation system. Promoting product export through river and sea is highly in line with its green, low-carbon, energy-saving development concept, which is actively advocated by YANTIAN and Jiangmen Municipal People's Government.

Under the strong support of Shenzhen and Jiangmen governments, and related port supervisory departments, the feeder "Shitai 329" successfully departed from Gaosha Port for YANTIAN, which marked the official opening of the YANTIAN-Gaosha (Jiangmen) Port Alliance. This is the sixth port alliance in the Greater Bay Area opened by YANTIAN following YANTIAN-Huizhou Port Alliance, YANTIAN-Dongguan Port Alliance, YANTIAN-Zhongshan Sinotrans Port Alliance, YANTIAN-Zhongshan International Container Terminals Port Alliance, and YANTIAN- Gaolan Port Alliance.

With the port alliance mode, importers and exporters of Jiangmen and the surrounding areas can share cargo data, conduct cargo declaration and clearance locally. Cargo delivered at Gaolan Port can be cleared just like at Yantian Port. The whole process only requires one declaration, one inspection, and one release. This model opens up a new channel for international trade cargo to reach the rest of the world through YANTIAN quickly.

The clearance time is shortened from 4 hours to 30 minutes, and the clearance efficiency is improved by 87%, significantly saving logistics cost, improving container turnover rate, easing the pressure of land transportation, and reducing pollution. This new port alliance helps Jiangmen products go global in a more convenient and cost-effective way, which further promotes win-win cooperation between Shenzhen and Jiangmen to yield fruitful development results in the Greater Bay Area.

A hub port that stabilises international trade

YANTIAN has a unique 18-metre-deep and 475-metre-wide natural approach channel in the Greater Bay Area that can allow 7/24 passage of 200,000-ton vessels in both directions with "zero time difference" and "zero tidal range", making us the hub port in the Greater Bay Area and the larges port run by a single operator. On a weekly basis, there are approximately 100 services to major ports worldwide. YANTIAN serves over 1/3 of the import and export container traffic of Guangdong province and 1/4 of that generated by the Sino-US trade.

Meanwhile, as the last port of call in China for the majority of international shipping services on the European and US routes, YANTIAN is committed to ensuring the timely departure of mega-vessels to save time and costs for customers.

Looking ahead, we will keep implementing national development strategies, expanding port alliances in the Greater Bay Area to connect more river ports and contribute to the establishment of a world-class port cluster and the high-quality development of the export-oriented economy in the Greater Bay Area.
