With the palms of their hands, they measure the scale of towering steel giants; with every drop of sweat, they etch another ring into the port’s unfolding story. This is YANTIAN’s most brilliant badge of honor. On this day dedicated to those who strive, we pay tribute to every act of dedication and every moment of perseverance.

Honoring three decades of steadfast commitment

In 1994, the horn of the "Maersk Algeciras", the first line-haul container vessel called at the terminal, rang out across YANTIAN, marking the start of a legendary journey shared by the port and its people.

For the past thirty years, a dedicated group of individuals has stood alongside YANTIAN, navigating the challenges together. They have witnessed the remarkable transformation of YANTIAN—from a barren stretch of tidal flats to a world-class port.

At the special Labour Day event “Thirty Years of Unity; Growing Together”, old photographs were unveiled, evoking memories of the pioneering builders whose youthful spirits once braved the waves to establish the port.

Labour Day fun: container dreams and the Labour Day carnival

What can a container hold? It can house dreams and the vibrant pulse of life! This Labour Day, YANTIAN transforms into a Port-Themed Amusement Park. Here, thrilling games captivate everyone, with laughter and cheers filling the air. In the cultural flash zone, masters of intangible cultural heritage, such as paper-cutting artists, display the delicate beauty of this ancient craft. Meanwhile, the lion dance troupe moves rhythmically to the drumbeats, blending tradition and modernity to create a unique spark at the port. The bustling market stalls are brimming with people, sharing warmth and leaving with a heart full of joy and fulfilment.

Guandan competition: A showcase of wits and teamwork

At the card table, collaboration is strength. A total of 338 brilliant minds went head-to-head in over 1,000 thrilling rounds, each game a display of sharp thinking and seamless teamwork—mirroring the precision, efficiency, and coordination that define terminal operations.

From container yards to cultural markets, from feats of strength to battles of intellect, YANTIAN celebrated this Labour Day with a carnival brimming with warmth, spirit, and vitality—honoring every dedicated port worker who makes the port shine.
