At YANTIAN, the steel jungle never sleeps. RTGCs, quay cranes, reach stackers—these towering giants form the sinews of the port, powering its ceaseless operations day and night. Amid the symphony of machinery, there is a group of dedicated "guardians" who decode the language of these machines with their fingertips. With exceptional skill and precision, they keep the equipment running efficiently, ensuring the seamless flow of port logistics and composing a vibrant chapter in global trade.

A high-level competition kicks off at YANTIAN

To further enhance the professional skills of port machinery maintenance personnel in the Yantian District, inspire continuous learning, comprehensively assess technical proficiency, and identify "craftsmen talent" while promoting the spirit of craftsmanship, the 2025 Shenzhen Skills Competition—Yantian District Construction Machinery Maintenance (Port Lifting Machinery) Vocational Skills Competition officially commenced at YANTIAN on June 11. Hosted by the Human Resources Bureau of Yantian District and organized by YANTIAN, the competition attracted over 200 enthusiastic participants from across Yantian District's port machinery maintenance workforce.

Proficiency shines in the preliminary round

In the theoretical examination of the preliminary round, participants focused with calm determination, transforming years of hands-on experience into precise answers on paper. After intense competition, 60 participants emerged as the top contenders—20 each in the quay crane, RTGC, and reach stacker categories—successfully advancing to the final.

The final: a battlefield at fingertips

At the final, as simulated faults emerged, the competitors responded with calm precision—listening intently to mechanical sounds, tracing electrical circuits, measuring data. With sharp observation and extensive experience, they skilfully wielded their tools to troubleshoot swiftly and repair accurately. In a race against time, they moved with steady focus, bringing to life the "muscle memory" honed through daily practice and the on-the-spot wisdom that shines in critical moments. Sweat and concentration intertwined, showcasing the professionalism and dedication of port maintenance engineers.

After intense competition, a group of outstanding winners emerged. These awardees are not only champions on the competition stage but also living examples of YANTIAN's spirit of craftsmanship. Through their dedication, they prove that excellence and brilliance can be achieved through relentless commitment and skill regardless of positions.

🏆He Haiming, champion of the RTGC category, has worked at YANTIAN for 15 years, remaining steadfast on the front line. He said, "There are no shortcuts in port machinery maintenance. Only by treating every repair as a learning opportunity can we continue to improve."
🏆Zhang Cailong, champion of the Quay Crane category, has worked at YANTIAN for 24 years, leading his team to overcome numerous technical challenges. "Working with quay cranes is like playing on the football field: precise diagnostics are like breaking through the defence, and accurate repairs are the decisive strike. A technical breakthrough feels even more exhilarating than scoring a goal."
🏆Yan Wei, champion of the Reach Stacker category, has worked at YANTIAN for 8 years. "Winning this award was not only a surprise but also a motivation for me to keep pushing forward. I will continue to learn, share knowledge with my colleagues, and further refine my maintenance skills as we pursue excellence together."
