As Shenzhen embarks on the inaugural year of its 15th Five-Year Plan and serves as the host of 2026 APEC "China Year", the city's economy continues to demonstrate strong momentum. According to Shenzhen's economic report released on July 24, Shenzhen's GDP reached CNY1.9843 trillion in the first half of 2026, representing year-on-year growth of 5.8%. As a vital component of YANTIAN's transportation network, feeder services play a key role in seamlessly connecting domestic markets with global markets. To date, 17 feeder services are in operation, offering more than 90 weekly sailings. The network extends across the Greater Bay Area, as well as Southwest and Central China, providing efficient transshipment services for over 100 international shipping services every week.

YANTIAN's feeder service reached another record high in 2025. Following nearly 30% year-on-year growth in laden container volume in 2024, laden container throughput increased by a further 10% in 2025, setting a new all-time record.

Momentum has continued into 2026. In the first half of the year, both total feeder throughput and laden container throughput recorded double-digit year-on-year growth, reaching their highest first-half levels on record.

On July 20, a container loaded with 480 TCL air conditioners was transported from Zhongshan Port to Yantian Port in Shenzhen. After customs clearance under the supervision of Dapeng Customs, Shenzhen Customs, it was loaded onto the mega containership OOCL WISDOM bound for Poland. The shipment was the first export cargo at Yantian Port to be handled under the Customs-supervised water-to-water multimodal transport model, marking the successful implementation of the new model at the port.

Customs officers conduct on-site supervision of the first shipment under the water-to-water multimodal transport model at Yantian Port.

As the world's largest single container terminal by throughput, Yantian Port operates 16 feeder services spanning the Greater Bay Area as well as Southwest and Central China, providing efficient connections to more than 100 international shipping services every week. Previously, cargo transshipped via inland river ports was required to go through customs transit formalities at multiple stages, resulting in longer processing times and preventing Yantian Port from fully leveraging its strengths as an international shipping hub.

Under the new model, operators need only submit a single multimodal transport declaration covering the entire journey, while retaining the flexibility to transfer cargo or adjust logistics routes within China. Deng Xiaopeng, Head of the Transport Means and Logistics Monitoring Section of the Port Supervision Division of Shenzhen Customs, said, "The new model significantly streamlines declaration requirements by reducing the amount of data to be submitted. It also enables the seamless exchange of multimodal logistics information across customs districts, making it well suited to complex, multi-leg inland waterway transport scenarios and greatly enhancing operational flexibility.

To ensure the smooth rollout of the new model, Shenzhen Customs has established a cross-customs information-sharing mechanism and a 24/7 response system. Customs officers track the entire logistics process in real time, from cargo declaration and transshipment to vessel loading and departure, promptly resolving operational bottlenecks and ensuring efficient exports through a single declaration covering the entire journey.

"The new model enables us to allocate production capacity more flexibly. Even during peak shipping seasons, we can respond to customer orders more quickly and accurately, further strengthening our competitiveness in the Western European market," said Wu Chaojia, Customs Affairs Manager of TCL Air Conditioner (Zhongshan) Co., Ltd.
