On 22 March 2010, the Guangdong Province Housing and Urban-rural Construction Department named YICT a "Water-saving Enterprise" in recognition of the port's remarkable performance in saving water and its ever-improving water and energy conservation management system. YICT was one of 35 enterprises in Shenzhen to receive this distinction along with the accompanying reward of 240,000 yuan.

In 2009, YICT was able to save more than 400,000 tonnes of water. To monitor water use and realise conservation, YICT installed electronic flow metres and water saving devices throughout the terminal. A water recycling station was built to reclaim and treat wastewater for irrigation and for vehicle and container cleaning. Electronic leakage testing devices were also employed to check and improve the performance of flow pipes. Moreover, a water-saving culture was promoted among staff members and subcontractors.

In total, these activities represent YICT's commitment to striving for the sustainable development of both the company and society.
