Two YICT Research Projects Lauded by MOT

On 19 November 2009, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) of the People's Republic of China conducted an on-site appraisal of two of YICT's research projects: the Rubber-tyred Gantry Crane (RTGC) Power Engine Frequency Reduction Project and the Automated Container Sterilisation System Project.

The appraisal was undertaken by the Department of Education, Science and Technology and the Department of Water Transport of the MOT. After examining the findings of the research study, the MOT panel stated that "the achievements of this research are on par with the best research projects in China."

The RTGC Power Engine Frequency Reduction Project aims to reduce emissions by lowering the speed of diesel engines in RTGCs. RTGCs with converted engines emit 15 percent less air pollution, are 15 percent quieter, use 15 percent less fuel, and are 30 percent less likely to malfunction.

The Automated Container Sterilisation System realises a fully automated process of container sterilisation, covering disinfectant infusion, container disinfection and on-site monitoring. Currently, the system is running at the exit gates of YICT's Expansion Project.

The two projects were among five that the MOT delegated to YICT in March, 2009.
