On 24 July 2009, a new shuttle feeder service connecting YICT to Shenwan Port in Zhongshan, Guangdong began operations. The Shenwan-Yantian Shuttle Feeder Service is operated by the Zhongshan Port and Shipping Enterprise Group. It includes two 118-TEU barges that make the 12-hour trip between Shenwan and Yantian every day from Monday to Saturday.

The new service will mainly serve manufacturers in Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Jiangmen in Guangdong Province. These shippers will be able to benefit from the convenience and cost-effectiveness of barge transport, in addition to batch transport as well as batch declaration and clearance at Yantian's Dapeng Customs.

In order to better serve its hinterland, YICT has been actively pursuing such service extensions in recent months. Five feeder services now connect Yantian to ports in the western Pearl River Delta.
