On 27 February 2009, the Ever Shine, an S-Type green ship operated by Evergreen, called at YICT. The vessel's call marked the commencement of Evergreen's US West Coast - Asia - Europe Service Eastbound (UAEE) Service.
Thirteen of the 7,024-TEU green vessels, which feature low-sulfur fuel system, double-skinned hull and cold-ironing technology to reduce emissions and improve reliability, are deployed to the service. The ships call at Yantian every Friday, following a port rotation of Rotterdam, Hamburg, Thamesport, Zeebrugge, Port Said, Colombo, Tanjung Pelepas, Yantian, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Los Angeles and Oakland.
