On 6 August 2008, the Yantian Volunteer Association and the YICT Volunteer Group put up a service booth along the wooden promenade at CITIC Minsk World, China's first military theme park located at Dapeng Bay in Shatoujiao, Yantian, with core support provided by the Yantian District Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Environmental Protection Bureau of Yantian District.

The 2.5 kilometre long walkway was built along the coastline of Dapeng Bay. For the first time volunteers are providing regular services along the promenade, which has been frequented by local residents and tourists since it opened at the end of 2006. Beginning today, volunteers will be on hand every Saturday afternoon to provide local information to tourists and give aid to those in need. Volunteers will also promote environmental awareness among local community members and tourists alike.

Established in 1998, the YICT Volunteer Group has been actively participating in local community activities, including repairing electrical household appliances, cleaning up the seashore, planting trees and visiting orphans at the Children's Welfare Institute. In 2007, the Volunteer Group introduced a star grading system within its volunteer management policies to better serve society and the environment.
