On 30 April 2008, Feng Rencai, a senior engineer at YICT, won the Medal of Guangdong's Model Worker award for his excellent work ethic and overall performance. Feng is the first YICT employee to earn the title of Model Worker of Guangdong Province. He is also the first member of the Yantian Port workforce to ever win this honour since operations began in 1994.
Feng is responsible for managing the operation of the dual-hoist, tandem-lift quay cranes deployed to YICT's Expansion Project. He has also contributed considerably towards equipment management, technical innovation, energy-saving initiatives and emissions reduction at the Port. In 2007, Feng led his team in improving the dual-hoist, tandem-lift quay cranes to a large extent.
The Medal of Guangdong's Model Worker award is presented by the Guangdong Federation of Trade Unions to individuals or groups who, by their remarkable achievements in technology, management and system innovation, have made significant contributions to Guangdong's social and economic development.
