On 20 April 2008, Evergreen launched the Evergreen Asia-US Service (EAUS) at Yantian, providing an alternative route for cargo shipped from South China to the US ports of Los Angeles and Oakland.
Nine 5,600- to 7,024-TEU vessels have been deployed to the EAUS, which calls at Yantian every Friday and follows a port rotation of Yantian, Hong Kong, Kaoshiung, Los Angeles, Oakland, Shanghai, Ningbo, Qingdao, Oakland, Los Angeles and Yantian.
