On 30 June 2007, Horizon Lines launched its first new US service calling at Yantian, the Transpacific 1 Eastbound (TP1E) Service. The TP1E service provides a convenient and efficient access for export cargo from South China to be shipped to Guam.

Horizon Lines is a leading domestic ocean container shipping and logistics company in the United States, providing marine container shipments between the continental US and Alaska, Hawaii, Guam and Puerto Rico. As the last destination of the route, Guam is located in the southernmost part of the Mariana Islands in the western Pacific Ocean, conducting trade with countries mainly in the Asia-Pacific region.

The TP1E service calls at Yantian every Saturday with five 2,900-TEU container vessels deployed to the route, which includes a port rotation of Yantian, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Tacoma, Oakland, Honolulu and Guam. Presently, part of the Far East route included in this service is operated by Maersk. All the five vessels are new container ships that were launched in the months of March and April.

The TP1E service has helped enhance the current US services calling at Yantian, meeting the ever increasing and diversified market and customer demands.
