Europe Service AME and South Africa Service SAFARI Make Inaugural Calls at YICT

On 22 May 2005, Norasia launched a European service Asia - Middle East Express (AME) at Yantian. Commencing from 23 May, Maersk Sealand officially added Yantian to its ports of call as part of its SAFARI South Africa service. YICT now boasts a total of 65 weekly shipping services.

Norasia has deployed nine ships in its AME service. AMEW, the west-bound route of AME, calls at Yantian every Monday with a rotation of Xingang, Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Yantian, Port Klang, Le Havre, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Felixstowe. AMEE, its east-bound route, will berth at Yantian every Thursday from the middle of July with a rotation of Jeddah, Jebel Ali, Port Klang, Yantian and Xingang. AME is one of the fastest shipping services linking Asia, Europe and the Middle East. It takes only 20 days from Yantian to Le Havre.

Maersk Sealand has seven vessels in the SAFARI service. The new service berths at Yantian every Monday with a rotation of Yantian, Hong Kong, Tanjung Pelepas, Port Louis, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Port Louis, Tanjung Pelepas, Kaohsiung, Shanghai and Yantian.
