On 3 May 2004, Yantian International Container Terminals (YICT) took delivery of two quay cranes and six rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGC) to prepare for the opening of the third berth of the terminals' Phase III expansion project in July.
YICT's Phase III Project will be equipped with 18 quay cranes and 66 RTGCs. During the past year, a total of ten quay cranes and 27 RTGCs have been put into operation. Eight quay cranes and 39 RTGCs will be delivered to YICT in batches by the end of September 2004.
At present, YICT is expediting the construction of its Phase III Project. The new gatehouse will be opened on 1 July. As a result of these efforts, terminal operation efficiency of YICT will be much improved.
