Numerous events are in full swing throughout the country, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China on 1st October. On 23 September 2009, YICT held a chorus contest which featured patriotic songs to mark the big day. It was the terminal's largest ever singing competition since its inception. A total of 12 teams, consisting of some 600 staff from operations, the executive teams and senior management, participated in the competition.Wang Tongxin, Vice-chairman of Shenzhen Federation of Trade Unions, Wang Hongbin, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Shenzhen Yantian Committee and Deputy District Chief of Yantian District, and Zhang Linyou, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee and Chairman of the Trade Union of Yantian Port Group, were present at the event.
