On 10 July 2003, Section B of Yanba Highway (between Yantian Port and Kuicong) was officially opened to traffic. On the same day, Yanpai Highway connecting Yantian port with Jihe Highway commenced construction, further improving the road network around the port.
The completed Section B of Yanba Highway makes it possible to transport cargo from Kuicong and the Grand Industrial Zone of Shenzhen to YICT within 15 to 30 minutes. In addition, to cope with the operations of YICT's Phase III Project, the 15.2-km Yanpai Highway is expected to be completed by 2005. This will serve as a terminal express-way to Dongguan and Huizhou. Together with these two highways, Pingyan Railway, Mingzhu Interchange (currently under construction) and the planned second access to the port will establish a comprehensive traffic network for the port.
