On the afternoon of 17 September 2002 at Xiao Mei Sha Hotel, YICT briefed representatives from over 100 trucking companies about its work to improve terminal operations at the port as well as measures to better traffic control.

Over the past two months, YICT has initiated a number of new projects at the port. These have included the installation of new equipment, enlarging the container yard, increasing its workforce and streamlining operational processes. Significantly, it has also set up a Port Traffic Administration Team to provide a means of communication between the port and governmental departments, the Container Truck Association, Yantian Port Group (YPG) and other organisations. Overall, the various projects have been highly successful.

YICT also informed the trucking representatives of its decision to invest RMB350 million on two new Quay Cranes, 18 Rubber-Tyred Gantry Cranes and the renovation of the container yard. An additional RMB240 million will be spent on the construction of Mingzhu Interchange, which stands at the centre of the port's road network.
