Safety is the lifeline of high-quality port development. Under the theme "Fire Safety for All, Life Above All—Safe Usage of Electricity and Open Flames," the 2025 Fire Safety Month concluded successfully. With a constant sense of responsibility that leaves no room for complacency, YANTIAN has continued to strengthen and refine its fire safety management. At the same time, a technology-enabled, modern firefighting force, fully upgraded two years ago, now stands ready, building a solid shield for the port's safe development and delivering safer, more efficient protection for customers.

All trained in fire safety: making awareness truly take root
Safety begins with awareness and is realized through action. Centred on the theme, YANTIAN fostered a strong port-wide atmosphere in which everyone cares about fire safety and everyone takes part. Through the online "YANTIAN Academy" fire safety learning program, 8,178 employees participated and achieved a 100% pass rate. Beyond reinforcing standards for the safe use of electricity and open flames, the initiative firmly embedded the principle of life first—shifting mindsets from "safety is required of me" to "I choose to be safe," and injecting a robust safety foundation into the port's high-quality development.
Technology-powered safety: a reliable "steel guardian"
As "new three" industries gain momentum in the Greater Bay Area, YANTIAN, an international shipping hub of the region, has seen continuous growth in dangerous goods throughput. Emerging risks from lithium batteries, new-energy vehicles, and other cargo types are placing new demands on traditional firefighting models. How can the port achieve full coverage, rapid response, and minimized risk? The answer is clear: harness technology to strengthen safety.

As early as two years ago, YANTIAN took a forward-looking step by deploying two firefighting robots, forming the port's first "steel guardian" vanguard team. Over the past two years, this brother duo has repeatedly been deployed in emergency drills and real-world operations involving high-risk scenarios such as simulated lithium battery fires and chemical leaks—earning their place as the port's elite, all-purpose responders.
🤖Eagle eyes & acute hearing: Remotely operated from distances of up to 100 metres, the robots' high-definition cameras relay real-time footage of the fireground, toxic gas levels, and equipment status, delivering critical information to commanders.
🤖Heat-resistant shield: A triple-layer water curtain system protects against extreme temperatures, ensuring sustained performance even under intense fire conditions.
🤖Unrestricted mobility: Anti-derailment tracks enable smooth passage through container stacks and debris-strewn terrain, while a 360-degree rotating water inlet guarantees uninterrupted water supply.

More than an equipment upgrade, these robots represent a step-change in safety philosophy:
✅ Zero personnel exposure: In environments too dangerous for human entry, firefighters withdraw to safe zones and conduct remote operations.
✅ Data-driven command: Real-time transmission of on-site data enables a shift from experience-based judgment to data-driven decision-making.
✅ Higher firefighting efficiency: By advancing directly to the fire source and precisely targeting critical ignition points, the robots effectively suppress and extinguish fires, preventing escalation and spread.
Eliminating risks at the source through rigorous inspection
Safety leaves no room for negligence; prevention is paramount. In November, under the direction of the company's Safety Committee, YANTIAN organized five dedicated fire safety inspections. Through comprehensive screening and checklist-based rectification, potential fire hazards were eliminated at the earliest stage, ensuring a safe, stable operating environment across the port. While Fire Safety Month has concluded, YANTIAN remains committed to the principle that safety work is never coming to an end. The company will continue to consolidate the outcomes of the campaign, embedding fire safety education and hazard identification into routine practice and long-term mechanisms.

Turning drills into capability: forging robust emergency response readiness
As the saying goes, true understanding comes from practice. Ultimately, theoretical preparation must be transformed into real-world emergency response capability. With a sharp focus on high-risk port scenarios, YANTIAN conducted five intensive, scenario-driven firefighting drills in November, strengthening preparedness across critical areas:
🧯Fire evacuation drill at the YICT Building, enhancing emergency response in high-rise facilities;
🧯Fuel station fire emergency drill, reinforcing preparedness for hazardous materials risks;
🧯Engineering Maintenance Centre and Materials Warehouse evacuation drill, strengthening protection for critical infrastructure;
🧯Rail-sea service site firefighting drill, eliminating safety bottlenecks across multimodal transport operations;
🧯East Port evacuation drill, ensuring the safe and steady progress of projects under construction.
Each drill served as a full-scale stress test of emergency response plans. Guided by a problem-oriented approach, YANTIAN promptly optimised procedures and closed gaps, ensuring that in real emergencies, teams are ready to mobilize, able to respond swiftly, and capable of winning decisive battles.

Safety as the foundation, harmony as the goal
Although Fire Safety Month has drawn to a close, the pursuit of safety never ends. YANTIAN will continue to strengthen safety through technology and enhance services through innovation, firmly implementing national workplace safety directives. By safeguarding the secure and efficient flow of cargo, the port stands as a steadfast protector of high-quality, sustainable development.
