On January 6, CCTV 13's Xinwen Lianbo aired a feature report titled "The First Foreign Trade Order of the New Year in a Major Trading City' as part of its special column "Frontline Perspectives Toward the 15th Five-Year Plan," highlighting Shenzhen's foreign trade performance (see details below). On the evening of January 21, Xinwen Lianbo broadcast a headline report titled "Advancing Through Innovation and Quality: China's Economy Sets Sail on a New Course" under its flagship series "New Thought Guiding a New Journey · An Extraordinary 14th Five-Year Plan." The report turned its focus to YANTIAN in Shenzhen, capturing the profound transformation of China's industrial structure.

The year 2025 marks the conclusion of China's 14th Five-Year Plan. With annual GDP exceeding CNY140 trillion, the Chinese economy has achieved both a significant expansion in scale and a marked improvement in quality. Throughout the 14th Five-Year Plan period, in the face of profound shifts in both domestic and international conditions, the CPC Central Committee, with President Xi Jinping at its core, has responded with strategic composure and coordinated policy measures, steering the Chinese economy steadily forward. China's economic strength, technological capabilities, and overall national competitiveness have continued to grow, charting a path of high-quality development characterised by sustained innovation and structural upgrading.

The report turns its focus to Yantian Port in Shenzhen—one port that has borne witness to the transformation of China's industrial structure.

CCTV reporters recently returned to Shenzhen, visiting Yantian Port to capture the port's intensive operations firsthand.

CCTV Reporter Gao Yuan: "This is Yantian Port in Shenzhen. Behind me, 18 vessels are currently in operation, including five mega-vessels, each measuring 400 metres in length. On average, more than 60 mega-vessels call at Yantian Port every month. These massive vessels, fully loaded with new energy products, smart home devices, robots, and other high-tech goods, are now bound for global markets."

At the very start of the new year, Shenzhen's foreign trade has already featured twice on CCTV Xinwen Lianbo. On January 6, CCTV 13's Xinwen Lianbo aired a feature report titled "The First Foreign Trade Order of the New Year in a Major Foreign Trade City,' as part of its special column "Frontline Perspectives Toward the 15th Five-Year Plan," highlighting Shenzhen's foreign trade performance.

The report shows that as 2026 begins, high-tech products from Shenzhen—including robots and 3D-printed goods—are accelerating their expansion into overseas markets. The value-added content of foreign trade continues to rise, as technological strengths are rapidly being translated into export competitiveness. As the city with the largest number of national-level "specialized, high-end, and innovation-driven SMEs" ("little giant") in China, Shenzhen is now home to 1,333 related companies. Enabling more high-tech products to reach international markets and driving the optimization and upgrading of the foreign trade structure have become key priorities for this major trading hub at the start of the year.

From the macro-level landscape of innovation-driven development to vivid, on-the-ground scenes at the port, the vitality of Shenzhen's foreign trade has been comprehensively showcased through the lens of national media.
