On 25 March 2002, Mr. Kenneth Tse, General Manager and Mr. Xu Yun Guo, Deputy General Manager, launched the opening ceremony of YICT's first "Reading Festival" at YICT Sports & Training Centre.
In his opening speech, Mr. Tse shared his reading experience with the staff and called on them to broaden their view and keep up with the fast pace of change by reading.
The Festival will run till 29 March. A series of functions will be held to promote further study among the staff. For instance, there is book donation, famous movie shows, promotion on study plans and the Teachers' Association and a seminar on reading by famous writers. Also an English Learning Evening is planned. At the same time, the company took this opportunity to celebrate the fourth anniversary of the completion of YICT's Sports & Training Centre.
After the ceremony, the local celebrity Miss Helen Xu autographed copies of her books on site, who is the host of the Five-Minute English programme aired on Shenzhen Television. Clerks from the Shenzhen Library also came to issue library cards to YICT's staff. They have helped create a reading ambience for YICT.
