YICT and Shenzhen Customs Sign the Memorandum of Cooperation to Develop an East Platform

On the morning of November 20, 2002, YICT and Shenzhen Customs officially signed a Memorandum of Co-operation to develop an East Platform at the 1/F Conference Room of YICT Administration Building. This agreement is not just an extension to the first Memorandum of Co-operation on Inland Transit Cargo at Yantian Port, signed by the two parties on October 16, 1995, and the following renewed memorandums; the new Memorandum of Co-operation also marks an important milestone for both parties to seek mutual development through continuous teamwork.

YICT and Shenzhen Customs have reached an agreement on terminal management, better communications and co-operation, and on simplifying declaration processes. The new version of the Memorandum of Co-operation focuses on development of the East Platform computer system to execute the principle of Customs supervision, business enterprise self management and public management. This is intended to further reform customs supervision over ocean shipments. In order to carry out customs policies with increased efficiently, modern technology will be introduced, which will also promote the ongoing development of Yantian Port.

At the signing ceremony, Mr. Kenneth Tse, the General Manage of YICT, and Mr. Li Guo, the Deputy Director of Shenzhen Customs, briefed terminal management on business developments and the implementation of the memorandums. Later, Mr. Tse and Mr. Guo signed the new memorandum on behalf of his own respective party.

On the day of the signing, more than 60 guests, including Mr. Liu Yingli, the Vice-Mayor of Shenzhen City, Mr. Gongzheng, the Director of Shenzhen Customs, along with officials from Shenzhen Municipal, Yantian District Governments and related departments of Shenzhen Customs and representatives from Hutchison Port Holdings, Yantian Port Group and shipping lines, were invited to attend and witness the signing ceremony.
