On 4 June 2002, Maersk Sealand's container vessel "Maersk Toledo" arrived to commence another US service at YICT.
On 24 May 2002, Yantian International Container Terminals (YICT) handled the 10 millionth container since the commencement of the terminal. The record was achieved at 14:38 when operating the container vessel "COSCO Qingdao".
On 10 May 2002, "CCNI Arica", the first container vessel launched by Compania Chilena de Navegacion Interoceanica S.A (CCNI), arrived at YICT. "CCNI Alica" is 207.4 metres in length with the capacity of 2,564 TEU.
On 27 April 2001, "Cape Charles", a vessel under NYK, arrived at YICT to launch Grand Alliance's new ECX service.
Starting from 11 April 2002, UA has started to add Yantian call in the European route of its PDN pendulum service.
On 22 March, YICT Golf Day 2002 was held at Xili Golf and Country Club. Mr. Thomas Lindy Sorensen from Maersk Sealand won the championship.
On 25 March 2002, the container vessel "Chuanhe" under COSCO made an inaugural call at YICT, to commence a new weekly CSEA service.
On 25 March 2002, Mr. Kenneth Tse, General Manager and Mr. Xu Yun Guo, Deputy General Manager, launched the opening ceremony of YICT's first "Reading Festival" at YICT Sports & Training Centre.
On 15 March 2002, YICT organised a promotional function on Multi-Mode Transportation at the Sunshine Hotel of Shenzhen.
On 11 March 2002, "MOL Precision" under MOL berthed at YICT. This is the first sixth-generation vessel arrived at YICT after New World Alliance has planned to deploy new mega vessels in the JEX service.
On 10 March 2002, "Hanjin Paris" under Hanjin, a member of United Alliance, paid an inaugural call at YICT to commence the PSX service jointly operated by Hanjin and Senator Lines.
On 29 January 2002, COSCO's "Xiang He" made her inaugural call to YICT. This is a new weekly service from China to Persian Gulf (CPG) jointly operated by COSCO and UGMC.
On 11 March 2002, the container vessel "MOL Precision" berthed at YICT. This is MOL's first vessel of the sixth generation arrived at YICT after New World Alliance has planned to deploy new mega vessels in the JEX service.
